Add header and footer links

Questions:

  • How do I properly add legal texts?
  • How do I create links in the footer?
  • How do I create links in the header?

Description:

Depending on which design you use for the header and footer of your page, you can link to any page.

In the following instructions, we assume that the page to be linked does not yet exist, so we create a new page. We will do this with a content management page as an example. However, the concept also works for other page types such as categories, events, articles and more.

If the page you want to link to already exists, you can go straight to step 2.

Solution:

  • Customer area
  • Content Management
  • Manage pages
  1. Firstly, create a new page
    1. In the customer area, click on Content Management > Manage pages and create a new subpage at the desired hierarchy position.
    2. Enter the title and the actual content. When pasting in the content, please ensure that the text is formatted as desired. If you want to copy the text from Word, please paste it unformatted. This depends on your browser. In most browsers it works with the shortcut Shift + Ctrl + V. The reason for this is that Word copies a lot of unnecessary formatting and your page will not have the desired uniform design.
    3. Save the page
  2. Now go to the address bar of your browser and copy the address of the page using the shortcut CTRL + C. You can omit the domain (i.e. the path to the page starts with "/"). This means that you would not have to change all paths if you change the domain.

Hint

It is best to copy only the part of the URL that is highlighted in colour as in the following example:

https://www.deineSeite.de/denTeilDenDuKopierenSolltest.html

You can insert links in different places:

The following explains how you can link in the different places.

Adding links in the main navigation of the header

  • Customer area
  • System settings
  • Layout settings
  • Manage mega menu
  1. Now go to Customer area > System > System configuration
  2. Click on the "Manage mega menu" button. A new window will open
  3. Click on the button to add a link
  4. Enter a title and confirm the entry
  5. Select the type, e.g. "Link"
  6. Paste the previously saved path into the URL field, e.g. with the shortcut CTRL + V
  7. Save your changes

Add links in an additional navigation block in your header

  • Customer area
  • System settings
  • System settings
  • System configuration
  • Header configuration

Please note

Not every header has an additional navigation block.

As a rule, this additional navigation block in the header is reserved for legally required links such as the legal notice, cancellation policy, etc. and is therefore limited in terms of number and customisability.

  1. Now go to Customer area > System > System configuration > Header configuration
  2. Expand the header configuration and search for an input field for URL
  3. Paste the previously saved path into the field for URL, e.g. with the shortcut CTRL + V
  4. If a title is required for the link, enter this as well
  5. Close the header configuration again and scroll to the bottom of the page
  6. Save your changes

Add links in the footer

  • Customer area
  • System settings
  • System settings
  • System configuration
  • Footer configuration

Note

Some footers only allow the inclusion of legally required links such as the legal notice, privacy policy, etc.

The number of links that can be specified in the footer is often limited.

  1. Now go to Customer area > System > System configuration > Footer configuration
  2. Expand the footer configuration and search for a menu item "Links" or "Navigation"
  3. Search for the input field for URL. You may first have to add a link via a corresponding button
  4. Paste the previously saved path into the field for URL, e.g. with the shortcut CTRL + V
  5. If a title is required for the link, enter this as well
  6. Close the footer configuration again and scroll to the bottom of the page
  7. Save your changes

Store links in the copyright line of the footer

  • Customer area
  • System settings
  • System settings
  • System configuration
  • Footer configuration

Hint

Links in the copyright line are reserved for legally required links such as imprint, cancellation policy, etc. and are therefore limited in number and customisability.

These links only require the URL and no title.

  1. Now go to Customer area > System > System configuration > Footer configuration
  2. Unfold the footer configuration
  3. Unfold the button for the copyright line.
  4. Insert the previously saved path in the appropriate place, e.g. with the shortcut CTRL + V
  5. Close the footer configuration again and scroll to the bottom of the page
  6. Save your changes

Tips and Tricks:

Note for your legal texts

Your legal texts should be easily accessible for consumers.

In short, they should be accessible with no more than two clicks. They should therefore not

  • be nested in a complex navigation structure
  • only be accessible or viewable by visiting various subpages
