Automating VIP Price Groups via Turnover
Questions:
- How do I automatically assign "Gold" or "VIP" price tiers?
- What happens if a customer's spending drops?
- How is turnover calculated for price group promotions?
Description:
This feature eliminates the manual labor of reviewing customer accounts by automatically promoting or demoting users to specific price groups based on their semi-annual turnover. By linking price tiers to actual volume, retailers protect their margins while creating a psychological "lock-in" effect where customers strive to maintain their VIP status. The system ensures consistency across company accounts and provides automated notifications whenever a status change occurs.
Solution:
Steps to automate VIP Price Groups via Turnover
-
Open the TYRIOS admin panel and navigate to Purchasing Conditions
System -> System Settings -> System Configuration -> LoyaltyManagement → Purchasing Conditions
-
Activate the Automation
Toggle the “Activate automatic purchasing conditions” switch to "On" to enable the semi-annual status reviews.
-
Set Turnover Thresholds
For each available price group (e.g., Regular, Discounted, Premium), enter the “Minimum turnover” required to qualify. Leaving a group blank excludes it from automation.
-
Choose Calculation Mode
Select either Gross-mode or Net-mode to determine if the system should include or exclude tax when evaluating customer spending.
-
Enforce Profile Requirements
Specify which data points (Email, Newsletter opt-in, Address) must be present for a user to be eligible for a discounted price group.
-
Configure Notification Templates
Ensure the Loyalty Management Turnover Purchase Condition Notification template is set up so customers receive an explanation of their new status and how to retain it.
Tips and Tricks:
Pro-Tips:
-
Strategic Tiering: Set thresholds that encourage customers to increase their average spend to reach the next "VIP" level.
-
Protect Manual Overrides: Users assigned to price groups not listed in your turnover configuration will remain untouched, allowing you to keep manual VIPs safe from automation.
-
Transparency: Use the ##priceGroupName## and ##turnover## placeholders in your emails so customers clearly understand why their pricing changed.
Warnings:
-
Automatic Demotions: If a customer’s turnover falls below the lowest configured threshold, the system will automatically reset them to the "Standard" price group.
-
Calculation Window: The system runs semi-annually (January and July) and calculates revenue from the previous six-month period.
-
Clean Data: Ensure your customer and user relations are correctly linked in the master data, as turnover is aggregated across these relations.
