POS Terminal OptimisationEfficient checkout thanks to optimised blank input fields
In this article, you will learn how to customise the input screen for blank entries on your POS terminal. The aim is to streamline the input screen by hiding unnecessary fields, thereby specifically optimising the checkout process for your staff.

A tidy till screen saves valuable seconds with every sale and allows your team to focus on what matters most: your customers. In this guide, you’ll learn how to configure the blank form in the Terminal Editor so that only the fields you really need for your daily checkout appear.
-
Open the Terminal Editor and search for the section
The path to an efficient checkout begins in the Terminal Editor. Look for the ‘Fields in the blank input’ section there . This is where you’re in control. Whilst basic data such as the description, price and tax (tax matrix) are firmly defined as essential anchors, a list of ten further fields awaits your decision:
- Item number, description, size and colour
- Material, sample and unit
- Standard price, discount and business transaction
-
Deselect any fields you do not need and save
Free your team from unnecessary clutter. Untick all the boxes that aren’t relevant to day-to-day sales. For example, if you only need the name and price, simply leave the optional fields blank. Then click Save. The system will immediately confirm that the form has been successfully updated with a message.
-
Check for changes to the POS terminal
Open ‘Blank’ mode on the relevant terminal to view the result. Only the fields that you actively selected in the previous step are now displayed. Note: Hidden fields haven’t simply disappeared – they automatically use sensible default values in the background, such as the unit ‘pcs’ or the business transaction ‘turnover’.
-
Show all fields again if required
Flexibility is key. Should your requirements change and you wish to enter more details again, it’s incredibly easy to revert to the previous setup. Simply go back to the editor and tap the ‘Show all fields’ button . Once you’ve saved the changes, all the input options in the blank form will immediately be visible to your staff again.

Important: You can only save settings if the terminal is not currently in use at a till. If the terminal is active, the save operation will be blocked by an error message.
Good to know:
- New terminals start automatically in the simplified view, which contains only the necessary mandatory fields.
- On older terminals created before this feature was introduced, all available fields are enabled by default.
- The mandatory fields ‘Name’, ‘Price’ and ‘Tax’ are essential for operation and can never be deactivated.
