Significant performance improvements through font optimizations
Questions:
- Significant performance improvements through font optimizations
Description:
Page speed is a key factor in search engine optimisation (SEO). For this reason, we have already focussed on achieving as much as possible automatically and simultaneously for all customers.
We have now managed to make another significant leap forward by systematically optimising the integrated fonts. We have two objectives here:
- Fonts must not be obtained from external servers, as this could potentially create a security gap. Instead, all files must be controlled by our own system.
- At the same time, the fonts must be loaded in such a way that the page can be displayed with as little flickering as possible.
Success can now be systematically tested. And since we don't want to do this on a greenfield site, but as close to practice as possible, we have done this on some of our customers' sites. And Google also recognises the success.
This, for example, is the Google Lighthouse analysis result for a category overview of a medium-sized customer:

In comparison, the matching category page of the main competitor:

The result is significant because it means our client can have the same success with a significantly lower marketing budget - because the SEO is better, the page speed is better, the accessibility is better and the best practices are also better. These are all factors that are relevant for the ranking.
In our tests with older customers in particular, we have found that it is possible to get even more out of this with moderate resources. However, this is often customer-specific (e.g. through the integration of Trusted Shops). We'll stay on the ball here with TYRIOS, and if we see a need on your side, we'll get in touch.
