How do I define individual facets?

In TYRIOS, you can customise the item structure to suit your needs. In addition to the standard fields such as colour, size, item description, etc., you can add your own fields and group them. For example, you can add a "Technical data" or "Scope of delivery" area in which you can insert detailed fields such as "Performance", "Weight" and others. You can then use this data to offer the customer detailed filtering in product overviews. The advantage is that you provide the interested customer with a preliminary consultation in the form of a digital assistant. This allows the customer to find their desired product more quickly and intuitively - a clear competitive advantage.

Expand product data

To offer customised filtering, you first need to expand the product data. To do this, go to

Customer area > Product management > Manage product data types

You will see a list of all product types currently stored in the system. If you have not yet stored your own type, you will only find the "Standard product". You cannot delete this.

You can create a new type here or display an existing type to view its properties. A product data type consists of 3 areas:

1. Additional fields: These offer new areas such as "Technical details", "Scope of delivery". You can choose whether the additional field is displayed as a tab in the item details, within the description or remains invisible (e.g. for pure filtering)
2. Configuration parameters: Here you can specify whether the items can be configured. This area is not relevant for these instructions.
3. Rating fields: Here you can specify which detailed questions are offered in the product rating. This area is also not relevant for these instructions.

Select an additional field or create a new one. In the latter case, you can select the type of additional field. Here you select "Standard". You will then receive a list of detailed fields that you can edit and refine. In addition to the name (e.g. power, diameter, ...), you can also specify the data type.

Once you have saved the product type, the additional fields are available as input fields for the corresponding product type in the product editor. On the product detail page, the display could look like this:

Attention: By changing the product type, you change the data schema of your product data. You must inform the ShopOnTarget search and recommendation system of this schema, otherwise it will not be possible to search / filter for this field. To do this, go to:

Customer area > Search > Index products > Update data schema and re-index

The indexing process can take some time depending on the product quantity. Keep the browser window open during this time, otherwise the process will be cancelled.

Activate filtering

Once you have expanded the product type as required, the desired fields are available for editing in the product editor. As soon as you have entered the data, ShopOnTarget analyses the fields automatically. All you have to do is display the filter. To do this, go to "Edit category" > "Product view" in the desired category.

Here you will find the setting options for how and whether articles should be displayed. Select "ShopOnTarget-optimised article selection with faceting and filter function". For faceting, select "Use category-specific faceting".

You can now specify which filters should be offered individually for this category. The drop-down menu provides you with all available fields for selection. You will also find the detailed fields you have created here. You can add the filtering with the "+" symbol. Then resize the newly created filter definition by clicking on the down arrow on the right.

You can now set the name of the filter, the sorting and more. If your installation supports it, you can also use an alternative filter display - e.g. for colours, sizes, etc.

When you save the category, the new filtering is immediately available.
