Insert YouTube videos
Questions:
- How do I embed a YouTube video?
Description:
Videos allow you to bring users closer to your products or services on an emotional level. This is important because your customers can't touch your product on the internet, they don't get any haptic feedback and can't judge the quality. An appealing video can significantly reduce this problem. This applies equally to products, services and experiences.
TYRIOS allows you to upload videos directly to your own media library and embed them on your website. However, under certain circumstances it also makes sense to embed videos from YouTube. There are several reasons for this:
- Videos must be provided in different quality and in different formats so that as many site visitors as possible can see the video. Although this is automated by TYRIOS, it requires considerable memory. This can be stored externally on youtube.
- The integration of youtube videos improves your search engine rankings because youtube videos are often favoured by Google.
- You gain another external link source through youtube.
However, there are a few legal issues to consider when embedding YouTube videos.
- You must embed YouTube videos in Europe in such a way that YouTube does not set any cookies. This requires the explicit consent of the visitor. TYRIOS ensures this automatically.
- Since youtube videos are external and therefore automatically pass on personal data (the IP address), you must include the integration of youtube in your privacy policy.
Solution:
Integration via the editor
In the entire system - from TYRIOS page to TYRIOS pim to TYRIOS mailing - it is possible to embed videos in the content editor.
- If you have the corresponding editor in front of you, click on the youtube symbol
. A window for entering the youtube URL will open. - Paste either the embed code or the URL of the video into the corresponding fields.
- Either set the size of the video or select the responsive setting. This automatically adjusts the video to the available width.
- Activate the extended privacy. TYRIOS will automatically adjust the youtube URL so that youtube does not set any cookies.
- Click on OK.
The editor automatically converts your input into an iFrame. An iFrame is an embedded page - in this case the youtube video. If you want to change the URL of the video, remove this iFrame and repeat the steps above.
Please note
Do not edit the URL of the iFrame if you want to change the video. Instead, remove the iFrame completely. The reason is that the direct youtube video cannot be embedded. A special URL must be used for embedding. If you are technically adept, you can insert the corresponding youtube-embed URL directly. In this case, however, make sure to use the nocookie URL.
Integration via the product editor
If you use TYRIOS pim, we have greatly simplified the integration of YouTube videos for you.
- As a user with extended rights, go to the customer area > Product management > Manage articles
- Search for the relevant product and click on "Edit article" in the line menu
- Click on the "Media" tab
- Click on the plus symbol in the "YouTube videos" area
- Paste the URL of the youtube video.
TYRIOS automatically uses a responsive, data protection-compliant integration and lists the video in the product images.
Of course, you can also use the video in the content editor in the product editor.
