Product editor

Questions:

  • How do I use the product editor?

Description:

The product editor is the centrepiece of product management. It allows you to create graphically sophisticated and informative product presentations.

Structure

The product editor is subdivided into 11 areas in order to organise the management of articles more clearly.

Basic data

Enter basic product data here.

  • Item number: does not have to be unique, but it is advisable to use a unique number for internal administration.
  • Name: The article name should be as unique as possible. It is given to the customer in overviews, detailed views, on quotations and invoices and, of course, in orders. Make sure the name is as short but detailed as possible (e.g. including size and colour)
  • Short description: Describe the key product features of your item. The short description is displayed in the product detail view, in orders and invoices.
  • Description: Describe your product in as much detail as possible. A good product description is crucial for your success. That's why you have the full functionality of the content management system including macros available here.
  • public: Specify whether the article should be displayed to end customers or not. Non-public products cannot be ordered by the customer, but are available at the checkout or for individual offers (incl. shopping basket offers).
  • Shopping basket function activated. Specify whether customers can add the item to the shopping basket and order it.
  • Offer function activated: Specify whether a customer can request a customised quote for this item - regardless of the quantity.
  • Condition: Is the product new, used or refurbished?
  • Product type: Is it a physical product or a digital product? This may have an impact on supported payment methods
  • Unit: What is the unit of the product
  • Base price measure: If it is an item with a base price, then you enter the measure for the base price here. If you want to enter e.g. 1€ / 100 ml as the base price, then enter "ml" as the unit, 100 as the base price and 1 as the unit price.
  • Base price unit price: Enter the base price here if necessary. If a price is stored, this is also displayed to the customer.
  • Product group: Assign the article to a product group you have defined for internal analyses.

With the exception of the product group, all product data is displayed to the customer. This also applies in particular to search engines such as Google. TYRIOS pays attention to a very strict and comprehensive semantic output so that Google can capture the stored information in a structured way.

Details

You can enter further product details here. If available, these are also transferred to search engines, which can then offer powerful filtering in the search. Please note that certain details (e.g. size and colour) are mandatory for individual product types (e.g. clothing). Otherwise, Google will not systematically record your product.

Product labelling is used to provide your customers and search engines with detailed information about the origin of a product. As a minimum, you need to enter the brand and EAN / MPN / UPC / ISBN so that Google can identify the product.

  • Brand: enter the brand of the product. You will be offered brands that have already been entered via an auto-complete function.
  • Manufacturer: In addition to the brand, you can also enter a manufacturer. An auto-complete function is also available here.
  • MPN: If possible, enter a Manufacturer Product Number - i.e. the manufacturer's article number. This enables Google to summarise identical items via shops.
  • ISBN: Enter an ISBN for books
  • EAN: if available, you should enter an EAN, which enables Google to summarise identical articles via shops.
  • UPC: not used in Europe, but the American equivalent can be entered if available.

The packaging information is used to calculate the correct shipping costs (if these are dependent on size and weight).

  • Height in cm
  • Width in cm
  • Depth in cm
  • Weight in kg

Standard product attributes go into more detail about your product. Depending on the product type, entries here are mandatory if you want to be properly indexed by Google. Standard product attributes are attributes that are supported by external systems (such as Google) in particular. They must therefore be systematically entered here.

  • Colour: several colours are possible. An auto-complete function is available for this purpose. Separate multiple colours with a comma or the Enter key
  • Gender
  • Age group
  • Material: Several freely assignable materials are also possible here. Please note: Only enter the material, not the percentage. This field therefore does not fulfil the requirements of the Textile Labelling Ordinance. You can enter these separately (see below)
  • Pattern
  • Size type
  • Size type
  • Sizing / fit
  • Sizing system
  • Energy efficiency class
  • Multipack: Enter the quantity here if the product consists of several individual products
  • is a product package: Mark the product if it is a bundle, product set or other type of product package. This is necessary because otherwise Google cannot distinguish packages from pure products with the same EAN
  • adult: Mark adult material, otherwise your page may be blocked by Google
  • Season: Enter a freely definable season here if you sell season-specific products. An auto-complete function is available to you

Price

TYRIOS always stores prices net. This is because different VAT rates may apply depending on the intended use. Nevertheless, it may be important for you as a user to define the prices from the perspective of your end customers. You can therefore decide for yourself how you want to enter your prices. An option button is available for all price fields for this purpose:

Brutto- oder Netto-Eingabe

You can use this button to specify whether the price entered is a gross or net price. The tax rate specified in the product is used for the calculation. TYRIOS automatically converts the price to net when saving and displaying and ensures that there are no rounding differences.

Attention: If you specify prices in gross, you should make sure that they are also calculated in gross (gross mode) for invoices. Otherwise, rounding errors may occur when calculating the total amount. If, on the other hand, you enter net prices, you can create invoices in net mode. This means that VAT is added at the end. This can be particularly relevant in the B2B sector.

You can enter the following fields here:

  • Price: Enter the purchase price with which a customer can make a purchase in the online shop
  • Show price publicly: Specify whether the customer can see the price and thus add the item to the shopping basket, or whether the price should only be displayed on request(shopping basket offer).
  • Alternative price 1-3: you can store alternative prices here. These can then be used at the checkout, for example
  • List price: Enter the manufacturer's recommended retail price here. Note that this price is displayed in the item detail view.
  • Purchase prices: You can enter a separate purchase price for each location/warehouse. The system maintains the purchase price automatically with each goods receipt, so that the purchase price saved with the product represents the average purchase price per location across all goods receipts, taking the stock into account.
  • additional shipping costs: enter additional - non-standard - shipping costs that only apply to this item.
  • Self-collection: Specify that this item can only be collected by the customer.
  • Tax rate

Categories

An item can be assigned to any number of categories. Depending on the user story, you can place an article in such a way that an interested customer can find it. TYRIOS ensures that no duplicate content is created despite this multiple assignment. The system automatically selects a main category from your selection.

To assign an article to the category, all you have to do is select the relevant category. Supercategories do not have to be selected. Depending on the category settings, articles from subcategories are automatically displayed in the main categories. The customer then has the option of searching for the right product via a drill-down.

Category system

If possible, a category system should group products with different characteristics. For example, trousers and T-shirts should be in separate categories. Different values of a property (e.g. brand, colour, size, material) should be implemented via filters rather than categories. The main difference is that with categories you specify the navigation structure. With product filters, the customer is more flexible and can limit the number of products based on their individual priorities (e.g. size first, then material, then colour).

Media

In addition to a very good product description, high-quality images and videos are the most important prerequisites for a good conversion rate. This is because most customers primarily use the internet to obtain information. If you are convincing here, then the step to the point of sale is small. If you slip up here, the competition is just a click away.

For this reason, TYRIOS has a feature-rich media management system that automates essential steps for you.
