Offer discount based on payment options
Questions:
- How can I offer a discount for specific payment methods?
- How can I set different fees for payment options?
Description:
It is often desirable for the costs of a payment method to be passed on to the customer. But beware: under EU law, this is only possible in very specific cases. You have to be particularly careful in the B2C sector because the legal situation has many grey areas.
So far, however, it has been quite unproblematic to grant a discount on certain payment methods, such as prepayment.
Solution:
- Go to the customer area > Order management as an administrator or as a user with extended rights
- Select the "Manage payment options" function in the Settings area
- Search for your desired payment option and select "Edit payment method" in the line menu
- You can now enter the desired costs in the "Costs" area. Simply enter a discount with a negative sign
- Fixed costs are a fixed amount of money in € (net)
- Percentage costs are based on the order value
- transmission fee is only useful for surnames
- Specify the tax rate to be applied.
- Save the payment option
Tips and Tricks:
The question often arises as to which VAT rate should be applied. Here it is important to note that the VAT rate of the products is not taken into account, but that only the VAT rate stored for the payment option is used.
In principle, TYRIOS also allows an immediate discount to be stored in the order, which is then taken into account proportionately at the respective tax rate. However, this instant discount cannot currently be assigned via the payment options. If this is desired, you should contact us so that we can possibly create a possibility here.
