Automated calculation of delivery chargesPurpose of the free-of-charge threshold
This article describes how to configure a minimum net order value for free delivery. The aim is to set a threshold above which the system automatically reduces the delivery charges for a selected delivery option to zero.
Once set up, the system informs customers of the delivery terms on the product pages and in the shopping basket. When the threshold is reached, customers immediately see a notice indicating free delivery, whilst if the order value is below the threshold, the remaining balance or the applicable costs are displayed.
How to set up your free delivery thresholdVersandkosten-Konfiguration leicht gemacht
In this guide, you can set the free delivery threshold: the net order value above which no delivery charges apply for a particular delivery method. Your customers will then also see this information on the product page.
-
Open the section on the free-of-charge limit
In the menu, open ‘Manage dispatch options’ and select the required dispatch method (e.g. ‘Standard dispatch’). In the editor, go to the ‘Prices’ section. This section is only visible if the option ‘Do not calculate dispatch costs automatically (B2B)’ is disabled.
In the ‘Free delivery threshold’ section, add a new entry. A sidebar will open. If it does not open, check whether your browser is blocking pop-ups.
-
Enter the currency, amount and expiry date
Select the currency (e.g. EUR) and enter the threshold as a net amount. Example: If you want delivery to be free for orders of 50 € gross (including 19% VAT) or more, enter 42.02.
Under ‘Valid from’, select today’s date or a date in the past so that the rule applies immediately. Confirm in the sidebar; the new entry will appear in the ‘Free delivery threshold’ table.
-
Save and check delivery options
Save the delivery method. The editor will then continue to display the threshold value you have entered, so that you can check your settings at any time.
If the editor reports errors in the form, check the sections marked in red and fill in any missing details.
Setting freight allowance limits correctlyImportant notes on configuration
Please note the following points to ensure that free delivery is calculated correctly and displayed in the storefront:
- Net value principle: The free delivery threshold is always compared with the net value of the goods in the shopping basket. You should therefore always specify the threshold as a net amount (e.g. €42.02 instead of €50 gross).
- Future date: If the date in the ‘Valid from’ field is in the future, the rule will only take effect from that date. Until then, the standard delivery charges will apply.
- Country-specific rules: You can define specific thresholds for each country. If no country is selected, the entry applies globally to all delivery areas.
- Currencies: Ideally, you should enter values for all currencies used. If there is no specific entry for the customer’s currency, the system will automatically convert the value into the default currency.
- No entry: If there are no active entries in the list or all data has already expired, delivery charges will always be applied.
