For B2B retailers who dispatch goods on pallets or calculate costs manuallyDisable automatic price calculation for delivery options

In this article, you will learn how to disable automatic price calculation for specific delivery methods, such as pallet delivery or cost-based billing. This helps you avoid incorrect price displays of €0.00 or the message ‘Free delivery’ at checkout if the actual costs are not known until a later stage and may be invoiced via a pro forma invoice.

This guide is intended for shop administrators who need to calculate delivery costs manually or only after an order has been placed. Disabling this feature ensures that customers see the stored description of the delivery method instead, which promotes transparency and professionalism, particularly in the B2B sector.

This guide provides a technical walkthrough on how to disable automatic price calculation for B2B delivery options. This is particularly useful for delivery methods that are invoiced individually on a cost-based basis.

  1. Enable the B2B setting in the Basic Data panel

Go to Order Management › Delivery Options and open the required delivery option. In the Basic Data panel, locate the ‘Do not automatically calculate delivery charges (B2B) ’ toggle and switch it on. The toggle should now be marked as active.

  2. Check that the price panel has disappeared

Take a look at the editor’s panel navigation. Once the toggle has been activated, the entry for the ‘Prices’ panel automatically disappears from the list. As the system no longer calculates the costs, this panel is no longer required and price rules can no longer be configured there.

  3. Save delivery option and check the result

Click Save. The setting will be applied and will remain active even when you reopen the editor. Ensure that you have entered text in the ‘Description’ field for the delivery option that explains to the customer how the delivery charges are calculated (e.g. ‘Charged as incurred’). Check the language settings to ensure the text is set up for all customer languages. A shipping price line will no longer be displayed in the checkout, the order summary or on the picking list.

Legal and technical detailsImportant information and tips

Important legal notice: Please use this function exclusively for delivery options aimed at business customers (B2B). The Price Indication Regulation requires that delivery costs be disclosed to end consumers (B2C) before the order is finalised. Omitting this information is not permitted in business-to-consumer transactions.

You should therefore make use of the option to offer the delivery option exclusively to B2B customers or to make its availability subject to certain conditions.

Good to know: If you deactivate the switch at a later date, your old price tables will reappear in the Prices panel. The data is not deleted, but simply hidden whilst manual billing is active.
