Show delivery time based on stock level

Questions:

  • How can I make the delivery time adjust automatically?
  • Why is a different delivery time shown in the cart than on the product?

Description:

In Germany, it is mandatory to display the correct delivery time as part of the price labelling(Section 312d (1) of the German Civil Code). Please note that the delivery time must include the delivery to the customer, i.e. the delivery time, not when you dispatch the parcel.

TYRIOS basically offers three delivery times, which can vary depending on the installation. The standard delivery times are as follows:

  1. 1-5 days
  2. 5-10 days
  3. not available

You can enter the specific delivery time in the article. It is also possible to enter a manual delivery time text that differs from these values. Make sure you specify a specific time here. The customer must be able to estimate when the item will arrive. If the delivery time is incorrect, you are generally liable for damages. However, the customer has to prove the damage, which is why this is usually not easy.

TYRIOS is set by default so that the delivery time refers to the warehouse. You can define at item level how the system should behave if the warehouse is empty or idle. We have defined this standard behaviour to ensure that there are no legal consequences in the event of incorrect data.

Solution:

Maintaining items without stock

If you want to store an item without stock logic, you must inform the item that it has no stock:

  1. Go to Product management in the customer area
  2. Go to Manage articles and search for your corresponding article.
  3. Select "Edit article" in the line menu.
  4. Click on the "Stock" tab
  5. deactivate the setting "Item is in stock"

Automatically increase delivery time when warehouse is empty

If the warehouse is empty, you can specify how the item should be changed on the item. One setting is to set the delivery time.

  1. Go to product management in the customer area
  2. Go to Manage articles and search for your corresponding article.
  3. Select "Edit article" in the line menu.
  4. Click on the "Stock" tab
  5. Go to the "Actions when stock is empty" section and activate the setting "Overwrite product data when stock is empty"
  6. Click on the plus sign and select the desired delivery time Select "Immediately" as the time if the action is to be carried out immediately after the stock level is changed.

Increase delivery time if stock is overbooked

Even if your warehouse is still full, it can happen that the customer books more than the current stock level. You can specify whether this is possible and, if so, whether the delivery time should be automatically increased by one level.

  1. Go to Product management in the customer area
  2. Go to Manage articles and search for your corresponding article.
  3. Select "Edit article" in the line menu.
  4. Click on the "Stock" tab
  5. Select the option "Stock can be overbooked" (default on) if the item may be overbooked - i.e. if the order quantity may be greater than the stock quantity.
  6. Select the option "Delivery time should be increased if the order quantity exceeds the stock level" if the delivery time should be automatically increased in the event of an overbooking. The customer is then informed of the increased delivery time when the item is added to the shopping basket.

Tips and Tricks:

In principle, it is advisable to inform the customer of the stock currently available if the stock of items is limited. This can significantly increase conversion, especially during sales.

  1. Go to product management in the customer area
  2. Go to Manage articles and search for your corresponding article.
  3. Select "Edit article" in the line menu.
  4. Click on the "Stock" tab
  5. Select the desired setting "Should the stock level be displayed in the product details?" The total stock level is always taken into account (including external stock)
    1. not visible: the stock level is never displayed
    2. visible if stock < 5: the user is clearly informed about the stock if the stock is < 5.
    3. visible: the stock is always displayed
