Store technical safety device in TYRIOS

Description:

Every cash register that allows cash sales must be equipped with a technical security device. The following applies: each cash register has a TSE, a TSE can have several cash registers. However, we recommend using a separate TSE for each cash register. This way you avoid that the tills block each other.

In order to use your cash registers in accordance with the law, you must connect the cash register terminals to the TSE - this is called a marriage. In doing so, you register the cash register in the technical security system. This process is subject to registration with the tax office, but - according to our information - there are currently no suitable forms.

TYRIOS uses the TSE units from Epson. The TSE is a chip that is integrated into the POS printer. This means that the TSE can also be used by tablet cash registers, mobile phone cash registers and classic PC cash registers.

Please note: The TSE must be replaced regularly because it has a shelf life and a maximum memory load. 

Solution:

The cash register system at TYRIOS is secured via https, i.e. the transmission of data is always encrypted. To enable a connection between the cash register and the printer and thus the TSE, the printer must also be accessible via SSL. We therefore assume that your POS printer is available in the network (via WLAN or LAN).

  1. First enter the IP address of the printer in the browser. An SSL error may appear here because you do not trust this certificate yet. The username is "epson" and the password is the serial number of your printer by default.
  2. Open the "Security SSL" tab by clicking on it.
  3. Find the section "Self-Signed Certificate" and click on the "Create" button to create a certificate for yourself. Enter the IP address of the printer as the name. The printer will restart and you can now trust the SSL certificate (this depends on your operating system and browser). 

After your printer is accessible via SSL, we can now store the technical security device in TYRIOS.

  1. As a user with extended rights, go to the customer area >POS >Show TSE overview.
  2. Click on the "New" button to add a new TSE.
  3. Give the TSE a name (e.g. TSE1), a five-digit password, a five-digit admin password, a six-digit PUK and a "shared secret" (this is initially EPSONKEY).
  4. Store the connection data of the TSE (IP address, the port is 8043 by default, device ID is "local_TSE").
  5. Search for the section "Device settings".
  6. Click on the "Connect" button to establish the connection of the TSE. TYRIOS will automatically set up your TSE. The process may take a few minutes. After the connection is successful, you can see all the details of the TSE under "TSE key figures". The expiry date is particularly important here.
  7. Search for the section "TSE Self-Test" and click on the "Run" button to make sure your TSE is working.
  8. Search for the section "Archive" and click on the "Perform" button to create the archive.

Tips and Tricks:

The law requires you to ensure that your TSE is working. This means that you should include in your daily checkout process that you do a daily TSE self-test. This TSE self-test shows whether the memory is still working. If you have a defective TSE, the tax office will only accept a failure of this data for a few days. It is therefore recommended that you do the TSE self-test daily. (e.g. as part of the cash closing process).

Every tax-relevant process must be logged at the cash register. This log must be backed up regularly. This is done with archiving. The data is downloaded from the TSE to your computer. We recommend that you first download the data without the delete function and if this was successful, start the process again separately with "Delete" activated. This way you can make sure that the data has been archived correctly.

The TSE export must be stored GoDB-compliant and archived for 11 years.
