How dynamic cost calculation worksUnderstanding differences in delivery charges on the product page
This article explains to shop owners the logic behind the dynamic display of delivery charges on the product page. You will learn how TYRIOS continuously analyses the shopping basket value to provide customers with accurate information about expected changes to delivery charges.
Instead of displaying static flat rates, the system calculates the exact cost difference. If a customer already has items in their basket, the product page does not display the standard price, but instead calculates whether adding the new item will incur additional costs, whether the delivery charges will remain the same, or whether they will be waived entirely if a free-delivery threshold is reached.

Find out how your shop dynamically adjusts delivery charges to the current basket value. This guide explains the logic behind ensuring your customers always see the exact benefits of their order and the savings on delivery charges.
This transparent approach helps you specifically encourage larger shopping baskets, as customers can see exactly at what point they no longer have to pay delivery charges.

Add items below the free delivery threshold to your basket
Add an item with a gross value of €20.00 to your basket. In this example, the free delivery threshold is €42.02 net (approx. €50.00 gross). As the value of the basket is below this threshold, the basket displays the standard delivery charge of €5.90 (€4.96 net plus 19% VAT).
-
View another affordable item in the shop
Open the details page for an item that costs €10.00 including VAT. As the total value (€20.00 from the shopping basket + €10.00 for the new item) is still below the free delivery threshold, the delivery charges remain unchanged. The message on the product page therefore reads: “No additional delivery charges”.
-
View an article on reaching the tax-free allowance
Now open an item with a gross value of €40.00. Together with the €20.00 in your basket, this brings the total above the free delivery threshold of €50.00. The system recognises that this item would mean no delivery charges apply. The message reads: “€5.90 delivery charges waived”.
-
Check the dispatch status once the free delivery threshold has been reached
Add the €40.00 item to your basket. The value of your basket is now above the threshold and qualifies for free delivery. If you now view any other item, the product page will display the message: ‘No additional delivery charges’, as the delivery status is already set to ‘free’.
Tips for displaying items in the shopping basketSpecial considerations when calculating delivery charges
The delivery costs displayed on the product page are dynamically calculated based on the current contents of the shopping basket. Please note the following specific features regarding the display:
- Weight- or percentage-based costs: If delivery charges are calculated based on weight or the value of the goods, the system explicitly displays the ‘additional delivery charges’ that would be incurred by adding this item.
- Highest shipping costs only: If you only charge the highest shipping costs applicable to all items, the note simply shows the difference by which this item increases the costs already in the basket.
- Behaviour when the basket is emptied: As soon as a customer empties the basket completely, the display on the product page automatically reverts to the standard view (showing the full delivery charges or ‘Free delivery’).
