Fallback logic for address dataAddress forms without custom configuration
The system uses a standardised fallback layout if no specific configuration has been defined for a selected country. This automated feature makes it possible to capture address data for all ISO country codes without having to define an individual input mask or specific validation rules for each country.
In this overview, you will learn how the generic layout is structured and which field labels appear in this scenario. You will also learn how to ensure that address details and tax identification numbers are stored correctly in the system, even without country-specific format checks.
How to use the standard address layout for unconfigured countriesFlexibilität für internationale Adressen
Sometimes your business takes you to countries where standard configurations don’t apply. At such times, our system adapts automatically and provides you with a flexible layout, ensuring you can continue to operate effectively worldwide.
-
Select a country without any specific configuration
In the address form, select a country for which no specific configuration has been saved, such as Belgium, Sweden or the USA. Your system immediately recognises that no specific rules apply to fields such as postcodes in this case, and intuitively switches to the tried-and-tested ‘default’ layout.
-
Check the amended address fields
Take a look at the new structure: compared with pre-configured countries such as Germany, the ‘street ’ and ‘streetNo ’ fields have been replaced by ‘addressLine1 ’ and ‘addressLine2 ’. The‘postCode’ field remains in place to ensure correct delivery.
-
Check the tax ID field for business addresses
Select the address type ‘Business’ to enable the VAT field labelled ‘VAT / Tax ID’. As no specific validation rules have been defined for this country, you can enter any text here – the system does not automatically check for a specific format.
-
Save the address in the system
Complete the process by clicking ‘Save ’. The address will now be successfully stored in the system, using the generic field layout to ensure your data is securely persisted.
Further details on address managementTips and important information
To ensure customer addresses are processed smoothly, please note the following system-specific features:
- Residential addresses: For this address type, no fields for company names or VAT numbers are displayed. The ‘postCode’ field is not subject to any format restrictions in this case.
- Automatic country code correction: The system is error-tolerant. Entries such as ‘NL’ are automatically converted to lower case (‘nl’) in the backend. This ensures that the specific layout is always loaded for configured countries and that the standard layout does not appear by mistake.
- Generic layout: If you select a country without a dedicated configuration, the form uses a standard layout. In this case, the ‘addressLine1’ and ‘addressLine2’ fields replace the fields for street and house number.
- If you require a more specific definition for a particular country, please contact Support. Your system can be configured individually accordingly.
