Revenue recovery without manual effortConfiguring automated email reminders

Many customers abandon their shopping baskets just before completing their purchase. With TYRIOS’s automatic shopping basket reminder, you can win back these potential buyers without having to spend time sending manual follow-up emails. The system automatically detects inactivity and responds at the ideal time.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to enable this automation. This ensures that customers receive a personalised email with a direct link to their products. This allows shoppers to revisit their shopping basket with just one click and complete their order with ease.

How to enable the automatic shopping basket reminderUmsatzrückgewinnung durch automatisierte E-Mails

An abandoned shopping basket isn’t a lost sale, but a valuable opportunity to build customer loyalty. Often, it’s just a minor distraction that prevents your prospective customers from completing a successful purchase.

This guide walks you through the exact steps to enable automated reminder emails for abandoned trolleys and to set the optimal time delay for your recovery strategy.

  1. Open order status for drafts in the editor

Open the Order Status Administration section in your TYRIOS backend. Select a status where the `primaryState ` field is set to ` draft ` – such as the default ‘Draft’ status. In the edit screen, the option “Enable reminder email for abandoned orders” and the field for the time delay will now be visible.

  2. Activate the reminder function and set the delay

Tick the box ‘Enable reminder email for abandoned orders’. Enter the desired time in minutes (e.g. 90) in the delay field and save the status. The values are now stored in the system and the automated process is enabled for this status.

Important: Simply enabling this feature is not enough; you must create the email content separately in the email template editor, otherwise a blank message will be sent.

  3. Wait for the reminder email to be sent automatically

If an order remains in this status and the set time (e.g. 90 minutes) has elapsed, the system automatically sends the corresponding email. The following conditions apply:

    • The email contains the actual shopping basket contents and a link (resumeLink) that takes the customer (whether a guest or a registered user) straight back to the checkout.
    • This is subject to the order not being older than the configured maximum age (system setting).
    • The email is sent fully automatically without any manual intervention.
  4. Please note that the timer is reset when the customer becomes active again

Please note that the timer responds dynamically to customer interactions to avoid sending unnecessary emails:

    • If the customer edits their shopping basket (e.g. adds items or changes quantities) before the time has elapsed, no email will be sent.
    • The delay is reset from this new activity (lastChangeTime).
    • The email is only triggered once there has been a further period of inactivity lasting the full duration.

Successful shopping basket reactivationTips and important information

Saving email templates: Simply toggling the switch on is not enough. You must enter the text for the ‘Reminder email for Mail_Status...’ template under ‘Email Templates’. If no text is provided, a blank email will be sent.

Recommended timing: A value between 60 and 120 minutes is ideal. This way, the customer’s desire to buy is still fresh, but they do not feel pressured.

Age limit and exceptions: In the system settings under Order Management → “Maximum age for reminder emails” (default: 7 days), you can specify the maximum age of a shopping basket. This prevents outdated notifications.

For manual quotes, you can disable the automatic feature directly within the relevant order by unchecking the “Reminder email for abandoned order enabled” box.

Legal notice: Responsibility for the legal validity of these emails (e.g. in accordance with the GDPR) lies with the trader. Please check in advance whether you require explicit consent for this method of contact.
