Customer loyalty through targeted placementIncrease the visibility of the loyalty scheme in the order confirmation

The order confirmation is the most frequently opened email in e-commerce. As customers are sure to read this message, it provides the ideal opportunity to draw attention to the loyalty scheme. By including a discreet reminder immediately after purchase, you can reach customers at a time when their attention is at its peak and raise awareness of your loyalty benefits, which might otherwise remain undiscovered in the customer’s profile.

The aim of this integration is to make accessing the customer account as easy as possible. With the help of a Magic Link (direct login link), customers can access their current points balance and available benefits with just one click, without having to log in manually again. This reduces barriers and encourages active use of the programme immediately after a purchase.

How to integrate the loyalty scheme direct login into your emailsKundenbindung direkt im Postfach

The order confirmation is the email with the highest open rate in your shop. Make the most of this moment of attention to direct your customers to their personal bonus points balance via a ‘Magic Link’ – without the hassle of having to enter a password.

  1. Insert a teaser sentence into the email template

In the back office, open the email template editor (Mail component). Select the template for the order status you wish to edit (usually the ‘Order confirmed’ status). In the main body of the email, add a text or HTML block and write a short sentence referring to the loyalty programme. This sentence will appear in the email just like any other normal text.

  2. Set up a link with automatic login

Highlight a section of your text or create a button and link it to the following destination URL: {{directLoginLink:https://[your-shop-domain]/?action=myProfile&modul=usermanagement&subtab=bonus_program}}. Replace [your-shop-domain] with your actual domain.

    • Important note: The parameter subtab=bonus_program must be written entirely in lower case. If you write subTab with a capital ‘T’, the tab will not open correctly.
    • Save the template. The placeholder within the curly brackets remains unchanged when saving and is only resolved when the email is actually sent.
  3. Check that it works by placing a test order

Place a genuine order using a registered customer account to test the link. Open the email you’ve received and click on the link. The customer should be logged in automatically and taken directly to the tab for their loyalty programme, without a login screen appearing.

Additional informationImportant tips and advice

Please note the following technical details to ensure the teaser functions correctly:

  • Lower-case letters: Please ensure that the parameter ‘subtab=bonus_program’ is written strictly in lower case. Any deviation from this will prevent the link from taking the customer directly to the correct tab in their account.
  • Guest orders: If a customer places an order as a guest, the link will still work but will lead to the public landing page of the bonus programme, as automatic login is not possible.
  • Reusability: You can use this teaser in exactly the same way in other status emails, for example in the dispatch confirmation.
  • Language adaptation: In multilingual shops, the link’s destination automatically adapts to the language of the respective email.
