Getting Started: Entering legally required content
Questions:
- Which pages am I legally required to provide to visitors of my website?
- How do I create legally required pages?
- How do I make legally required pages accessible to website visitors?
Description:
Depending on what you use your website for, you are required by law to provide consumers with certain information about your business, contract fulfilment, data protection, etc. This includes, among other things
- the legal notice
- the privacy policy
- the right of cancellation
- the general terms and conditions
- the battery law
- or similar.
If you do not know which legal texts you must have on your website, how they must be formulated or would like support in creating these texts, we recommend the following partners: It-Recht Kanzlei München and Händlerbund
If you already have these texts, you can get started right away.
Solution:
If your website was realised by an agency, you can skip the first step, as the pages for your legal texts have usually already been created.
Roughly speaking, the creation of legal content can be approached as follows:
- You have to create a new page
- Then you have to fill this page with content and publish it
- Then you have to link these pages in the header or footer
1. Create a page
To create a new page, you must be logged in and have the appropriate rights to create and edit pages in Content Management.
- Customer area
- Content Management
- Manage pages
- In the customer area under Content Management, go to Page Management and open the user interface for page management. Here you will find all the pages that exist on your website
- By default, only the start page is displayed for a new system. Click on the button to create a new subpage.
- The editor will open.
2. Fill the page with content
At this point, we assume that you are already in the page administration.
- Customer area
- Content management
- Manage pages
If you have just created a new page, the editor should already be open. If not, search for the page you want to edit in the overview (e.g. "Imprint") and click on the button for the editor . The editor opens. You can now start editing the page.
- Under "Content" you can now enter a title and insert the page content for each language set in your system. Please pay attention to the formatting of your text so that it is legible and sensibly structured
- Switch to the "Properties" and make sure that the "Published" checkbox is ticked under "Publication"
- Save your page. After saving, you will automatically be taken back to the page overview.
3. Link your pages
Next, you need to think about where you want to link your legal texts. There are various options available to you, depending on which header or footer you are using. Below you can see how to proceed, depending on which option you choose.
To link the page, you need the path to the page. You can copy this from the address bar of your browser. In the page overview, click on the button to display the page . Then copy the path to your clipboard using the shortcut CTRL + C as shown in the following example (see coloured text).

You then enter this path in the appropriate place.

Note on the footer
Not every footer has its own navigation block. You can check this in your system configuration under Footer configuration.
Open the footer configuration and search for a menu item called "Footer navigation", "Navigation" or "Footer links".
