A smooth checkout process starts with a till that thinks for itself. By optimising the input modes for product groups and categories, you save valuable time during sales and make the process as intuitive as possible for your team.
-
Open the Terminal Editor and find the section
First, open the relevant terminal in your POS management editor. Look specifically for the section entitled ‘Product Entry Modes’. In this section, you will find various checkboxes that allow you to control your till’s user interface, including the options ‘Enable product groups’ and ‘Enable categories’.
-
Enable input mode for product groups or categories
Select the structure that best suits your day-to-day work:
- Tick the box next to ‘Enable product groups’ or ‘Enable categories’.
- As soon as you tick one of these boxes, the corresponding option in the drop-down menu under ‘Primary input mode’ will automatically be enabled and available for selection.
-
Set the primary mode and save the settings
Now decide which view your team should see first when they launch the till. Select your preferred option in the ‘Primary input mode’ field (e.g. ‘Product groups’) and click Save. From now on, the terminal will open directly in this mode, and the corresponding button will be displayed prominently in the till’s input bar.
Important note: If you wish to deactivate a mode that is currently set as primary, you must first set another active mode as primary before you can save the changes.

Enabling and Default Mode
A mode can only be selected as the primary mode if it has been enabled in the settings. If you disable a mode that was previously set as the default, you must select another active mode as the new default before saving.
Navigation and display
- Automatic hiding: The checkout only displays groups or categories that contain products. Empty tiles are automatically hidden.
- Stock filter: Using the funnel icon (filter), you can choose to display only products that are in stock at your current location.
- Navigation bar: Use the navigation bar (“All › ...”) and the arrow icon to navigate easily back through the levels.
